Kathie McNear, age 58, Bainbridge, Ga., formerly of Fort Scott, died Sept. 4, 2005, in Georgia. She was born June 4, 1947 in Fort Scott, the daughter of John and Anna McNear. She worked as a correctional officer at the Southeast Kansas Regional Correctional Center in Fort Scott. She also had been employed by the Fort Scott Housing Authority and Midwestern Distribution. She was a member of Campbell Street Church of God in Christ in Bainbridge, Ga. In Fort Scott, she was a member of the Mount Olive Church of God in Christ, the Athenaeum Study Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include a daughter, Deanna Miller, and five grandchildren. Her parents preceded her in death. Elder John T. Owens will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mount Olive Church of God in Christ. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation is planned from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main St., Fort Scott. |
